We got married in March of 2011. In April 2011, I was reading about this website that a blogger couldn’t stop raving about called Pinterest. I checked it out and you couldn’t just sign up. You had to be invited or submit your email address and they would eventually send you an invitation. Since I knew no one on the site I submitted my email and waited several days before I received an invitation. Once I did, I couldn’t believe it. There in front of my eyes was pretty much everything I wanted in order plan my wedding…just one month too late. Honestly, if I had found the website a month before the wedding I would have stressed myself out way more than I already was trying to include new ideas I found. I would have accumulated those gray hairs that graciously waited to make an appearance after the kids were born and wished we had just eloped.
But this isn’t about wedding planning or gray hairs and it’s only vaguely about Pinterest. See, one of the many things that I love about Pinterest is that when you look at your boards as a whole you begin to see patterns and pick up on things that subconsciously drew you to pin certain pictures. Take my kitchens board for example, apparently I am not only a huge fan of white kitchens but I am also really digging the whole runner rug in the kitchen look. I mean seriously, look at some of these beauties I found on Pinterest.
The rugs add warmth and color to a kitchen and make a statement. Fortunately, runner rugs tend to be cheaper than area rugs and give you the opportunity to add something fun to the kitchen while making it more comfy. They’re even beautiful in the bathroom.
I’ve been on the lookout for runner rugs that would work well in the kitchen like deeper colors and more pattern that could hide stains, it is the kitchen after all. If the rugs can be washed that’s even better. I’ve included a few indoor/outdoor rugs because if it can stand up to the elements, it should do okay in the kitchen. Most of all, the rugs need to be on a budget under $100. I was looking on a budget for a few reasons. Reason one, I’m a huge cheapskate. Reason two, rugs are one of those areas that once you go up in quality there’s a huge jump in price. At this point with my kids so little and two cats I’m just not wanting to invest in a piece like this. Reason three, I’m fleeting. At least twice a year I want to completely change the entire look of my house and abandon what I have. Reason four, I’m super cheap. Oh wait did I mention that already? Well I mean it! And a few of the rugs that I found at Walmart are complete steals at under $30! Some of the rugs are steals because of the size you get for the money. That beautiful black and white geometric stunner is 12 feet long for under $100!
